Kazan
The center of the central Asian Tatar culture and the official ‘third capital’ of Russia, Kazan is famous for its ancient Kremlin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city is also known for Our Lady of Kazan, the mysterious icon that has been invoked to thwart every major foreign invasion since the 17th century. Celebrated for having remained for centuries a multi-faith and

multi-cultural city, in Kazan large Muslim and Orthodox populations peacefully and proudly co-exist alongside Catholics and Jews. After celebrating its 1000 year jubilee in 2005, the city’s ancient old town has been thoroughly restored.
